The Single Hardest Thing About Online Marketing

Posted by Online Marketer under Online Strategies - No Comments

Every day millions of people try to make money online. Every day millions of people give up before they succeed too!

The reason for this varies, but most people fail because of the single hardest thing Internet marketers face which I want to go over in this article.

One time when I had a job as an outside sales rep I had a boss tell me if it was so easy everyone would do it. I think this is true when we describe what is so hard about online marketing.

The hardest thing I am talking about is getting traffic to a website. After 8 years of helping people make money online I feel I am qualified to make that statement.

I know that some people think the hardest problem they face could be several other things. I will grant you that a few of the most difficult things include motivation, sense of purpose, focus, online marketing skills, finding a good product to sell, lack of money, building an email list, and so on.

You probably do not really know why you want to make money online if you are having trouble getting motivated. The same thing is true for sense of purpose.

Focus is a little harder to describe because that can mean different things to different people. However, I do see people who skip around from one opportunity or one website to the next.

Really that is true when it comes to getting Internet traffic as well. You see people write and article and when it does not get any response they stop article marketing.

I get this all the time with our Hands Off Article Marketing program. People join the program and quit after one month. It is naïve to think you are going to get enough backlinks and traffic after one month of doing any type of Internet marketing.

It is a proven that if a person becomes an expert at one form promoting online the odds of them succeeding go way up. For example, if you master pay per click advertising campaign you can market anything you want on the Internet.

Some people concentrate on outsourcing for running their Internet business. This is fine if you get a qualified person to do your marketing for you.

Ultimately it takes a lot of exposure to the right kind of people to generate immediate traffic and alot of backlinks to generate long term traffic.

If you will learn how to do Internet marketing correctly, and focus on getting traffic to your site, you will become successful!

The Popup, Friend Or Foe?

Posted by Online Marketer under Online Strategies - No Comments

Pop-under, Popover, or just pop up, no matter what you use it still remains a proven method to increase your subscriber list and sales.

Many of us find the popup quite an irritation and have scripts installed to block them whenever we can, but they still seem to get through.

You yourself have probably filled in one, or have been tempted to buy from a popup recently. Sit back and think why you did and what happened.

The key to running a successful popup campaign is to make sure you have something worthwhile to say or offer.

It can be put down to offering your visitor something of interest related to what he has been searching for. Now we all know this, but how many are actually applying it?

A successful popup has to be target specific, most webmasters will just put the same one on all their pages, and in most cases they will have absolutely nothing to do with the page. Mainly this boils down to plain laziness.

If you target a specific search with your keywords, your popup should relate directly to that theme. Simply put, have different offers for different pages. The single popup for all pages will just irritate your visitor and he might not even come back to your site again.

Use them carefully and plan each ones use. If it does not relate to a page, don’t put it on.

The popup has two main functions:

Get the visitor to subscribe to a opt-in. Send the visitor to a sales page.

The pop-under on the other hand is normally used to activate a sales page when the visitor leaves, but it has been successfully used to get new subscribers. Both methods will work depending on the content and makeup of your page.

The popup consists of three basic elements:

Headline:

The headline like any other headline should grab the attention of the visitor. Remember he will see the popup when it appears, whether he will read on depends entirely on the headline, more so than on a sales page.

Sub-headline:

This should relate to, and follow the headline creating an itch. All you want to do is raise curiosity in the mind of the visitor to want to find out more.

Call to action:

Based on the curiosity you have created in the sub headline you will ask the visitor to take some form of action, like opt in to a newsletter or click on a link. Now unless your opt-in is highly valuable as a stand alone, it would be advisable to add value by providing something in return. This could be anything that is related to what the visitor is searching for.

The popup is not a sales page, your ultimate goal is to create an itch, the more itchy the better.

Conditioning to old style popovers is evident and just like banners they tend to draw little attention. To get away from this you need to be a little more creative and give them different look and feel that will catch the visitor’s interest.

The key to sales is advertise, advertise and advertise, as much as possible. But if your advertising is just thrown into the air and not targeted, I would suggest a philosophical chat with the dog, the result will be the same.

Tips Before Buying A Turnkey Online Business

Posted by Online Marketer under Online Strategies - No Comments

You need to be careful browsing through online turnkey offers to avoid serious financial loss. Everyone has at least one horror story involving online scams, and some are more personal because they were a victim. Once I receive my check for $14,000,000 from Nairobi I can retire from writing advice for small business owners and designing web sites. Wish me luck!

Consider the line from the movie “Field of Dreams” saying “If you build it, they will come”. This does not apply to websites. Online, the P.T. Barnum adage “There’s a sucker born every minute” is too often the case when it comes to purchasing a turnkey online business. Think before you hand off your hard earned cash. You could become victim of an online scam. Here at internet marketing you will learn more on marketing.

In the real world, individuals with novice internet skills are becoming victims every day. An honest person is more apt to believe what they read online because it’s in their character to trust things in writing. Stories of instant wealth with turnkey websites help perpetuate the elusive dream, especially when the reader has little or no business experience. Let’s examine a true case involving one of my clients, and the extreme nature of what can happen.

Imagine this single Mom, struggling to make ends meet while living off the proceeds of a real estate sale, and she encounters a variety of online ads filled with exaggeration and promising the opportunity of a lifetime. Over time, and before meeting me, she purchased 7 prepackaged web sites for a variety of online products and services thinking that money would roll in automatically. To put her online marketing in perspective, only recently she grew more comfortable sending and receiving email.

Her total cost for 7 sites exceeded $10,000 two years ago with zero profit to date. Most of the sites were cookie cutter turnkey subdomains with insignificant search engine ranking. In general, the top level domains were poorly coded with grade school level graphics, so each of her sites had serious problems with credibility.

When questioned about the lack of sales, most of her sources replied blaming her for the poor performance because she wasn’t promoting and marketing the site. Any person with bare email skills, no previous online marketing, and ruthless predators taking advantage of novice online entrepreneurs, all adds up to disaster. The ones selling advice about how to make money are often the only ones making money. Read on about how truly outrageous this situation became.

To get started, one company required payment of $2500 by EFT to transfer funds immediately from her bank account to theirs. One year later, they renewed her site without any prior notice, and withdrew $2500 again. Believe it. I know because by this time I was contacted to create a super site as a portal page to introduce the other 7, and she asked for advice on how to handle the $2500 withdrawal.

Here are some tips to help you avoid online scams when considering an online turnkey website.

1. Look at the web site and reflect on your first impression objectively. Your visitors will decide within 5 seconds if your product or service is credible and worthwhile. If your reaction viewing the parent site is not favorable, move on.

2. If you decide to review their web site further, look for signs of exaggeration. Pages overloaded with adjectives claiming or exclaiming success may be overselling in an attempt to convince you that you’ll be the next millionaire.

3. Next, do the owners or managers of the online opportunity give their real names, physical address, and phone numbers? If all you find is a postal box address and nothing to identify who’s taking your money, don’t do it.

4. Never consider buying an online business unless you personally have the experience to market and grow the product or service. Very few people make it rich quickly without effort and a considerable commitment of time and energy.

5. Don’t believe ads that offer something too good to be true. Avoid the pressure to act now. There is no urgency handing over your life savings until you perform some basic research.

6. Check for comments from satisfied customers. Testimonials from unhappy buyers are never published, so save your energy and skip over those unless you’re in the mood for some entertainment, and enjoy reading fiction.

7. Join a forum to get advice and feedback from other honest people like you. Search Google for “online business marketing forums” and visit several to see reviews of online opportunities from other users.

8. If you are going to distribute a product, think twice if the site requires you to pay in advance for inventory, offers a bonus if you sign up more distributors, or has ANY advance fee requirements.

Keep an open mind as you review different concepts, and think twice before you believe what you read online. Another downside to a turnkey website is you own a site that is most likely a clone to 100’s or perhaps 1000’s of pages covering the same product or service. Making a positive first impression includes being unique. In most cases the turnkey site is a fixed design, so you probably have zero influence on the look, and no chance of revising the content. With internet marketing solutions you will get more information on marketing.

In summary, caution and research will be the key to avoid being victimized. Shortcuts to wealth are rare. Real success in any online business requires long hours and hard work. The turnkey website for an online business may look too good to be true. It probably is. Your success depends on having a popular product or service that people need, presenting your offers on a credible and attractive site, and finally getting traffic to your web pages to make the sale. It is not easy. It can be done.

Web Coach Tip: Top 7 Ways To Spice Up Your Web Site’s Audio Greetings

Posted by Online Marketer under Online Strategies - No Comments

So the audio greeting craze has finally caught on. How can you make your website stand above the rest? Pump up the volume of your audio, of course!

Folks have found many different ways to utilize this cool feature, here are a few you can try: To learn more about marketing click internet marketing.

1) Be sure to add a little excitement and sparkle to the tone of your voice. Pretend you’re telling your best friend about a juicy piece of gossip. (I especially like my tone when I talk about things I LOVE like my kids, or my business) Don’t worry about sounding “hyped” or “salesy”. Remember to SMILE while you speak – you can “see” it when you listen. Practice in front of a mirror – don’t worry, nobody’s looking!

2) Greeting. For example, this is your Career Coach Mickey Mouse… thanks for stopping by…(Tell them what to do)… “Be sure to get your free personality type quiz, the signup is on the upper right hand corner of this webpage. You’ll be surprised at what you can learn about yourself!”

3) Product or Service Review. Tell a customer you would like to feature them on your website with a testimonial about one of your products they’ve purchased. Customers love to see their name in lights!

4) Product or Service Description & features. You know as well as I do that no one really reads EVERY single word of your copy. However; you can add extra punch with an audio sample, excerpt, or description. Folks on Ebay have increased their profits significantly by adding audio to their auctions.

5) Personalization. If your business has different departments, have each department head record a short greeting for that dept’s page. “Hello there, this is Bob Evans; head of shipping and receiving. If you need to contact my department please call yadda-yadda, or email me right away. I aim to exceed your expectations with my world class service.”

6) Assessment/Questionnaire pages. A smart web marketer will have a questionnaire for potential clients to fill out before contacting them for consulting, coaching or whatever. A sample question written on your form might be “What is your greatest challenge right now?” You can easily have an audio button asking the question again in gently probing manner or in a different way to get your prospect to give you more detail.

7) Don’t forget your Thank you pages. You work your butt off to get the sale – don’t blow it! Use audio to re-affirm your customer’s decision to do business with you. Thank them for making a wise decision that will significantly improve their problem, make life easier, or give them great joy.
